Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there are spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery.

For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views.

The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.

In short, Coniston offers everything you could possibly want of a Lake District holiday - all right on your doorstep.

Large spacious bungalow. Well equipped and close to all amenities. Good spacious lay out for 4 adults, 3 teenagers and a dog. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a nice big lounge. The infrared sauna is a great bonus. Great position for walks without having to move the car. Very close to the village centre, ideal for groceries or to go out for food at the local pubs. All in all, great cottage with a good service from the Coppermines. We look forward to our next stay.

This cottage suited us as we had young children with us, so plenty of activities to do in Coniston without using a car. Local shops were good, and we got everything we needed. Plenty of places to eat too.

What a wonderful, restful, spacious property Low How is, we will absolutely be booking in again next summer. We had 3 generations staying together as family, and it was an amazing holiday with plenty of room to spread out. I would really like to thank the responsiveness of the owners for providing the huge parasol (I made a comment on here last year and never dreamed I would be listened to!!) which enabled us to sit out despite the frequent light showers, it rained on the Friday night the minute I had unpacked, settled the kids and had finally managed to grab a drink and sit down outside, and I have never felt so grateful when I was simply able to open the parasol and enjoy that moment instead of retreating into the noisy living room - THANK YOU!!!

Low How Cottage is a wonderful place to stay in the Lakes. Plenty of room to have your own space while enjoying a family holiday. The garden is great for children o all sizes, loads of space to run around and completely secure for smaller children to explore. I cant recommend Low How Cottage enough. Thank you

Cottage was exactly what we need for 8 adults. Large communal areas and the ensuite bedrooms were ideal and allowed the occupants of the 4th bedroom to use the family bathroom for themselves. The outside space was great and was well-used as our weather was good most of the time.

The cottage was perfect for what we needed. Cottage cleanliness was high especially in the areas that really matter. We has a small issue one evening, and had to use the out of hours service for the first time, and this was very quick and efficient.. Assuming that we we're the same number of guests we will likely book this cottage again. Booking process was smooth, this is the sixth time we have booked and the service is always great.

We had a wonderful week with family at Low How. We were a party of 8 adults and the property was spacious with lovely outdoor seating and beautiful garden. The views from the garden were amazing. The proximity to the lake and Coniston Village meant we didn't use our car for the week which was a pleasure.

Thank you for a lovely stay in the Lakes, our stay at Low How cottage 23/3/23 was great. A very nice property, very clean and tidy and in a perfect situation. We have been with Coppermines Cottages for years now, very pleased with everything, excellent all-round service. The Coppermines always deal with the bookings very well, never a problem. We will be back, I would highly recommend The Coppermines & Lakes Cottages.

Very good. We had originally booked Cherry Tree Cottage in Coniston for 2020 but with Covid and lockdown we had to change to 2021 and unfortunately Cherry Tree Cottage was already booked. So we picked Low Howe as an alternative and were delighted with the outcome. We would definitely return to Low Howe.
