This mid terrace contemporary house has been furnished to a very high standard and is tastefully appointed with local art and crafts. Large windows throughout give the house an open feel with excellent views across Great Langdale Beck to Baysbrown Farm and Lingmoor Fell beyond.

The house is built over 3 floors now with wooden closed tread, carpeted, staircases. All rooms now have new digital on demand heating radiators or towel rails. The first and second floor rooms have been re-carpeted throughout.

Located on the outskirts of the village of Chapel Stile and a short walk from the church, Co-Op store, café and the popular Wainwrights pub. The facilities of Elterwater village, including the Langdale Hotel and Britannia pub are within a half mile. In the opposite direction, deeper into the valley, you will find both Dungeon Ghyll Hotels and the National Trust owned Sticklebarn all within easy reach via the valley path.

The Langdale Valley is a treasure - so much walking and it can all be done from the front door of Herdwick Place. The house has everything we wanted and it was great to have a good pub within walking distance.

Our first words on entering through the front door was 'Wow'. From the road the house looks quite ordinary but is quite unusual in design inside. A staircase goes down to the lower level, where there is a snug and the back door and lots of space for boots and rucksacks. Another staircase leads up to the bedrooms. The lounge has a lovely leather sofa with cute cushions with pictures of Herdwick sheep on and the most enormous TV we have ever seen in a holiday cottage. The local Lakeland slate is reflected in the kitchen worktops and bathroom floor. The cottage was immaculately clean and very well equipped with everything you could need and all the kitchen utensils were nice and new, There was plenty of storage space and lots of coat hooks. The only thing we felt was missing was maybe a nest of coffee tables in the lounge. New owners have recently taken over the cottage and are replacing many items. The dishwasher didn't work but apparently a new one has been ordered. We were informed before the holiday that there would be no wifi as the provider was being changed but we had no mobile phone signal either (O2) however wifi is available at nearby Wainwrights Inn and mobile signal is available on every fell top ! The cottage is well placed for walks from the door, we took bikes and the new waymarked Langdale Trail to Skelwith Bridge is good and all off road. Wainwrights Inn served very good food and the Tuesday quiz night was good fun. This was one of the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in, a dishwasher and wifi would have been icing on the cake.
