Herdwick Place is ideally situated to enjoy mountain and valley walks from the front door, climbing and exploring the spectacular Langdale Valley. For cyclists the 11 mile long Great Langdale Valley cycle trail can also be joined opposite the house, as can the 10 mile long 'Tour de Langdales' route.
This mid terrace contemporary house has been furnished to a very high standard and is tastefully appointed with local art and crafts. Large windows throughout give the house an open feel with excellent views across Great Langdale Beck to Baysbrown Farm and Lingmoor Fell beyond. The house is built over 3 floors with an open spiral tread staircase. The first 2 floors have warm air heating and each third floor room has an on demand electric wall heater. The house is on the outskirts of the village of Chapel Stile and a short walk from the church, Co-Op store, cafe and the popular Wainwrights pub. The facilities of Elterwater village, including the Langdale Hotel and Britannia pub are within a half mile. In the opposite direction, deeper into the valley, you will find both Dungeon Ghyll Hotels and the National Trust owned Sticklebarn are within easy reach.

Leading to a relaxing snug / TV room with DVD and comfortable sofa bed and chair. The utility area is located behind doors from this room containing a washer, drier and freezer. The herdwick wool carpeted sitting area now includes a comfortable new leather sofa and complementing chairs and has views across the valley to the fells beyond. The room is fully equipped with large screen smart TV, DVD and CD/radio. A bookcase has been newly stocked with among others a good selection of Lakeland books, both walking and literary, and games for all to enjoy. A powerful broadband connection completes the room features and connects with the TV system.
Bedroom 1 - double bed with a shelving surround and mirror wardrobe. A dressing table is set beneath the window affording more of the valley and fell views. En suite shower room beautifully tiled, with local slate flooring, WC, sink and wall cabinet.
Bedroom 2 - twin beds 2'6, can be put together to make a king-sized bed. Window surround shelving and headboard, chest of drawers and wardrobe in Shaker style.
The main bathroom is large with local slate flooring and tiles, with bath/shower over, bidet, WC, sink and an airing cupboard for additional drying.
Sitting area in the open front garden with bench, again with the views of valley and fells but also with the sounds of Great Langdale Beck. There is also a useful sheltered covered area to the rear of the house.

Great Langdale has excellent facilities for mountain/path cycling, rock climbing for both beginner and advanced, gorge scrambling and guided valley or fell walks all within a short distance of Herdwick Place. The Sticklebarn also holds all sorts of themed events year round, family friendly, films, ranger walks, social runs, relaxed music and a weekly quiz.
For more serious runners Great Langdale Road Races also host 10k, half marathon and marathon races every year, including the Festive 'Christmas Pudding 10k'.

Langdale is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, from hikers and climbers to fell-runners & cyclists. The area enjoys some of the best walking and climbing the Lake District has to offer. The famous Langdale Pikes, which are situated on the northern side of the dale are one of the most recognisable features of the area, creating a dramatic skyline.
