A cosy cottage of great character set on a traditional Lakeland hill farm overlooking the beautiful Woodland Valley. Just 10 minutes’ drive from Coniston village, the Woodland Valley is one of the few remaining undiscovered treasures of the South Lakes, offering anyone who may visit the opportunity to disconnect from the modern world and enjoy the solitude of this beautiful valley.
Lovingly reconstructed from the original 17th century miller's cottage & byre (animal house!). The Millers Cottage and Byre Cottage both offer a myriad of cosy rooms, rustic exposed beams, log fires and countryside views. Access to both cottages is gained through the main farmyard entrance, dotted with blossoming flowers during the spring & summer months, just make sure to watch out for hens darting in and out of the flower beds upon arrival.
The yard to the front of the cottages is lucky enough to catch the midday and evening sun, from here you are welcome to sit, relax & simply watch the world go by. The farmyard whilst quiet in nature is home to a family of hens, ducks, a cockerel, farm cats & sheep dog named Roy (He’s very friendly!). Sheep and Cattle also graze in the fields nearby, offering many a photo opportunity throughout the year.
The cottages both enjoy shared access to a delightfully private paved garden overlooking the ‘Hole Beck’. Offering an abundance of outside seating, undisturbed views and plenty of space for the little ones to play this area is perfect for summer BBQ’s, reflective moments and morning coffees. Footpaths from the farm give direct access onto the hills & across the valley. There is even open access to the neighbouring field, perfect for tiring out your canine companion (The owner Sheila will let you know which field is best). Should you be looking to explore the surrounding trails and byways on two wheels then secure indoor storage can be organised with Sheila, suitable for mountain bikes, canoes & dinghies.
The cottages whilst sleeping 6 each respectively could be hired by larger groups or families, utilising the proximity of both properties to one another.
In essence the cottages at Holebeck Farm are perfect for those looking to experience a glimpse of traditional Lakeland, step away from our technology driven era and spend some quality time enjoying everything the surrounding countryside has to offer. They offer a great base for exploring families, outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and those wishing to simply switch off.
Please note that if you are looking for shiny mod cons, speedy internet connections, waterfall showers & underfloor heating then Holebeck Farm unfortunately won’t fit the bill, these are traditional Lakeland farm cottages and as such carry much more unique character and charm.
The villages of Coniston, Broughton Mills and Broughton-in-Furness are all within a 10 minute drive of Holebeck Farm for all local amenities.
Please note that FLEXIBLE START DATES are available at the Holebeck Cottages - stay min of two nights from any day of the week (exluding some peak weeks)!

|This has been one of the most enjoyable holiday cottage holidays we have ever had. The children have thoroughly enjoyed playing in the courtyad and were quite contented to collect duck eggs. The owners made us feel very welcome. The cottages are warm, well equipped and spacious.
The morning fresh eggs were brilliant along with the owners farmyard tales. I truly believe this experience will have clinched it for my husband to become a farmer.

Thank you for such a relaxing stay here. The view overlooking the Irish sea is breathtaking. The owners have a wonderful sense of humour and lovely personalities. We could not have asked for a better stress free holiday and chance to restore our batteries. Thank you very much.
