Holehird Gardens, WindermereHolker Hall & Gardens one of my favourite gardens in the world

The Wordsworth Family moved into Rydal Mount in 1813 and rented the house continually for 46 years until the death of Mary Wordsworth in 1859. Rydal Mount was the largest house the Wordsworths lived in and became a much-loved family home.

Hill Top, Near Sawrey Beatrix Potter's former home, now owned by the National Trust and preserved as it was when she lived and wrote her stories there

Enjoy the tale of Beatrix Potter by visiting Hill Top. Full of her favourite things, this house appears as if Beatrix had just stepped out for a walk. Every room contains a reference to a picture in a 'tale'.

Dove Cottage & The Wordsworth Trust, Grasmere It is best known as the home of the poet William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy Wordsworth

Dove Cottage was the home of the poet William Wordsworth from 1799 until 1808. Many of the Wordsworth's household items: furniture, family possessions and portraits are displayed.

The garden (open, weather permitting), Wordsworth's 'domestic slip of mountain', has been restored to the half wild state that he and Dorothy lovingly created from local plants and materials.
