- Traditional Lakeland cottage
- Idyllic location
- Perfect for families
The National Trust and the custodians of Hole House Cottage are undertaking a process of continued improvement on the cottage.
Hole House Cottage is a lovely traditional 17th century detached whitewashed cottage. The only other buildings nearby are farm storage buildings, used infrequently.
The cottage sits in the middle of open farm land, overlooking Blelham Tarn and is reached by a short stone lane.
It is a wonderful quiet, romantic location and was given to the National Trust by Beatrix Potter who did stay there.
The cottage is ideal for bird watching and fishing, and footpaths run in five directions from near to the farm.

|Just spent another 17 days at Hole House Cottage. This really is a wonderful place to stay. The milkman came every day and we were able to buy milk, yoghurt ,bacon to name but a few things. Very reasonably priced . The Co Op at Hawkshead is not too far and sells just about everything you could need. Already planning our next years visit and wondering if we could squeeze in another later this year. The cottage now has an en suite shower room in one of the rooms which was a lovely surprise when we walked in. The dawn chorus starts about five o'clock and we loved it. We were visited by cows and sheep in the garden at different times I might add. This really is a fantastic place to stay, comfortable and clean and cozy.|

|The most relaxing holiday we have had for a long time. Just so quiet and beautiful views! If you like pubs and noise this is not for you. We booked this because it seemed suitable for our little dog. Unfortunately we lost him before we got the chance to try but we are sure he would have loved it.|

|A very special holiday for us and the cottage and area made it magical! I could not believe how peaceful and lovely the area was.
Hole House cottage itself is magnificent and the pictures online do not do the cottage justice.
Myself and my wife have made a promise that we will stay here again!
