- Cosy village hideaway
- Perfect for couples & small families
- Walking distance of village amenities
Wainwright Cottage is named after famous Lake District walker and guide writer A W Wainwright. It is the end property of a row of attractive small Lakeland slate terraced cottages, built in the early 1800s to home the copper mine workers. The terrace has cottages of varying styles, and was originally built for the middle management, as they liked being closer to the village. Wainwright Cottage is, as you'd expect perfectly located for the village, the fells and for the best views!
Three slate steps take you up to the shared porch and your front door. First stop the living room: two double leather sofas in front of a wood burning stove, plenty of space to get cosy and snug. Then onto a modern kitchen with slate floor and an able dining table for four. Upstairs are a double room looking out towards the lake (yes you can see it) and a flexible double or twin at the back. Both have en suite facilities.
There's a steep garden across Vale View lane that has the views you'd wish for, but it's a bit too precarious for smaller children. But it's still perfect for some adult outdoor dining and soaking up the vistas from the top terrace!
