- Quaint village property
- Perfect for couples
- Beautiful views across Coniston Water
Gable Cottage is one of a row of pretty terraced cottages built around 1820 for workers at the Coniston copper mine. The terrace Vale View, with its variety of cottage styles and build, was originally intended for middle management, as they were closer to the village, than workers' homes higher up the fell. Gable is thus positioned conveniently both for the village and its temptations, the open hills and mountains behind, and for the glorious views across to Coniston Water.
As you enter the cottage, it feels like you're stepping into a piece of Lakeland history. A comfy living room with wooden floors and open fire welcomes you. A window seat provides the perfect perch to gaze over the valley and lake below. Just the ticket for relaxing in, after a packed day on the fells. The kitchen beyond has all you'll need. Upstairs, the double bedroom has stunning views across Coniston to the eastern shores of the lake and comes with fireplace and a TV, the latter only for when it's too dark to look out of the window! Across the lane is Gable's mature cottage garden, accessed by stairs. There you'll find a slate patio with furniture and a sloping lawn. Enjoy a romantic, relaxing tipple whilst also drinking in the view.

|Gable Cottage is the first cottage we have rented and were nervous upon arrival, however we were really pleased seeing the cottage and the beautiful views. The cleaners had made the cottage warm and cosy and we appreciated the logs and the fire being made up for us on arrival. The cottage was clean and homely and had everything we required. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.|
