- Spacious property
- Perfect for families and groups
- Commanding village position
Imagine peace and seclusion. Plenty of space both indoors and out. It's all in one character property, perched up on side of the fells, looking down over village and lake. This is Fairsnape. A four-bedroomed C17th cottage, surrounded by 3 acres of terraced, wooded and enclosed grounds, magnificently situated high above Coniston.
Your first glimpses of the pink cottage are through the fir trees and shrubs as you climb the narrow private drive. There's plenty of parking space. An extensive slate terrace runs along the front of the cottage, catching the sun and providing glorious lake vistas. Entering this grand house brings you through a parquetted hallway and on into a large hall complete with tiled floor and beamed ceiling, perfect for storing outdoor gear. Left leads into a massive kitchen, dominated by a huge wooden table - what a great venue for family and friends get-togethers! Old slate flags, slate work tops, big gas range and patio doors out to the terrace. Through the kitchen leads to a couple of bedrooms (double and twin), which could be used as a separate annex. The double has many windows and so is light and bright and of course, it has the views. Back through the hall is the main living room with a slate open fire, three double leather sofas, beams and wooden floor. And adjacent is a suntrap of a conservatory and everywhere has the views. Upstairs' landing has low beams, uneven floors but bags of character. The bedrooms have stunning views.

|We loved this cottage. From entry we felt immediately at home. Plenty of room for all of us with a variety of areas to break away and we never felt on top of each other. The large kitchen with massive table was our entertaining area. We had and found everything we needed for our family Xmas gathering. This cottage 'while clean' was not in pristine condition so we felt at ease with our grand children. We were lovely and warm throughout our stay, the house is nestled into the hillside so is well protected from the elements. Central heating was great and the lovely addition of two fireplaces for our snug log fires. Location was gorgeous with outstanding views across the lakes and countryside. The little village had a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants with friendly service. The entrance to the cottage from main road is steep, winding and narrow and needs caution but once negotiated it is not too bad. All in all a fantastic holiday in a home full of character. We loved it!|
