- Fantastic location
- Perfect for families, friends and couples
- Awarded Gold Star Award from Visit England March 2016
Just up from the centre of the village, set amongst a working farm, there's a picturesque whitewashed cottage, which is really something special. Dating from 1762, it is a quintessential Lakeland home, complete with views and cottage garden.
Entering through the back door takes you first into the old world, the slate-flagged original kitchen space which is now a great dining area, complete with Rayburn, country dresser, generous oak dining table and original beamed ceiling.
But look to your left and there's the C21st - a beautifully modern kitchen, which was refurbished early 2015 with views over the village one-way, or up to the Yewdale crags the other.
A small hallway leads to the family living room, warm and inviting with its ceiling beams, traditional slate floor and wood panelled walls, a log burning stove, rugs and three big settees. What could be better than cuddling up in front of a roaring fire? To one side there's a light and bright second sitting room/reading room with a cosy log burning stove. The perfect hideaway for getting lost in a great book.
A wide light staircase leads up to three opulent en-suite bedrooms. Refurbished in 2015 the bedrooms exude quality yet still maintain many of their original features - built-in wooden cupboards, window seats & decorative fireplaces. The en-suite bathrooms are modern yet simple and would not look out of place in a boutique hotel.
This exceptional cottage makes a perfect base for a family of six, couples or a group of friends.
In essence Dixon Ground Farm is comfortable, effortlessly stylish, well located and simply charming.

|We stayed at Dixon Ground Farm for 2 weeks from the 8th of July 2016.
On arrival we were greeted by fantastic views from the garden, that even made the rain bearable.
The house itself is impeccable throughout, nothing has been overlooked.
Beds were extremely comfy, the bathrooms better than found in many 5 star hotels.
Kitchen had every utensil you could require to cook a large meal. However we dined out most days,as we don't cook much on holiday.
As for location,it couldn't have been better,as in a few minutes you could be either in the Copper mines or in the heart of the village. Our cars sat in 2 of the 5 (if you include area at front of house) parking spaces, for most of the holiday, due to the superb location.
The whole family and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, and would return again if staying in Coniston. The property is a real credit to the owners and I hope everyone treats it with the respect and care it deserves.
