Crag Cottage is in the middle of a terrace of Grade II listed, 18th century, quarryman cottages spectacularly situated under Yewdale Crag at the 'Far End' of the village of Coniston. Built of Lakeland stone with thick walls and an open fire, it is the epitome of a traditional Lakeland cottage.

Although over two hundred years old the cottage is cosy, well equipped and has recently undergone refurbishment and redecoration, with new gas central heating and WiFi connection. With its many antiques, prints and pictures, the cottage is furnished with a combination of quality and comfort.

As well as its delightful character and charm, what makes Crag cottage special is its superb location. Perched right on the fells on a little lane at the edge of the village, the cottage is a 5 minute walk from Coniston's numerous pubs, cafes and shops, but away from the hubbub. The Cumbrian Way footpath and cycle route runs behind the cottage giving direct access onto the Old Man, Wetherlam and long walks/rides further afield. As guest recently commented "the cottage is so well placed for everything we want to do. It's really good to be outside the village but close enough to be able to forget about the car and walk everywhere when we are there".

There is a small patio at the front of the cottage which acts as a little sun trap and has a bench and table to enjoy the views across the fields and woods to Grizedale Forest and the lake in winter.

You enter the cottage through a little porch which is an ideal place to dry out walking boots and damp clothes. The oak beamed living room is divided by a large, comfortable sofa into a seating area with open fire and a dining area large enough for 6. A large selection of games, maps, books and DVDs are also provided. The well equipped kitchen is situated at the back of the cottage from which you can out the back door and walk straight onto the fells. Perfect for four legged guests.

Upstairs there are two charming bedrooms with beautiful views over the countryside; a bathroom and a separate toilet. The master bedroom has a super king-sized bed which can be separated into twin beds if desired. The second bedroom has a very comfortable king-sized bed. Both have high quality bed linen and bedding. In the pretty bathroom there is an electric shower in addition to a bathroom suite.

There is a small patio at the front of the cottage which acts as a little sun trap and has a bench and table to enjoy the views across the fields and woods to Grizedale Forest and the lake in winter. There is secure storage for up to 4 bicycles in the outhouse at the back of the property.
