- Cosy property
- Village location
- Perfect for couples
Close to all the village amenities stands a Victorian terrace, of tall, thin properties called Dixon Ground. Right on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags behind, these cottages are well situated for walkers keen to get straight onto the fells, as well into the village centre.
Number 4 is at the very end of the terrace, up the gravelled path. A new kitchen with dining table for four greets you as you come in through the backdoor. The living room has a large old fireplace with a strategically positioned leather sofa in front. The front door leads out to a shared cottage garden but there's plenty of space and benches to find room for relaxation and reflection. An old wooden staircase separates the kitchen from living room - if you're tall, mind you head on the beams as you go up. Upstairs there are a couple of bedrooms. The master has a four-poster bed complete with curtains for extra privacy. There's another double, which has a spare single, but these beds are better for smaller people. Number 4 is quiet and peacefully, centrally located and would suit families with young children or couples fancying a bit of time to themselves.

|Have just spent the weekend at this lovely little cottage in Coniston with my fiancée and Frank the Parsons Terrier, and had a great stay. The cottage is part of a row of 4 next to the sun pub and at the bottom of the path to Coniston old man, an absolutely cracking location to explore Coniston and the surrounding area. We visited the local pubs (reviewed also) and the village and walked to and along Coniston water, up to the old man and to Tarn Hows on different days, all within a beautiful walk from the cottage. The cottage itself perfectly suited the three of us, but would be equally good for a small family or two couples. There was everything you need, small but well appointed kitchen, two clean and comfy bedrooms, a bathroom with a nice hot shower and a sitting room with an open fire, the cherry on the cake. Nothing beats a roaring fire and a glass of wine after a long days walking. The decor and furniture were a little dated, but it all added to the quaint character of the cottage and for the weekend, it was excellent value. We will certainly use Coppermines again for our next trip and would happily stay at the same cottage.|
