- Beautiful period property
- Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts
- Fantastic location
A typical Lakeland porch invites you into the whitewashed property and doubles up as an ideal place to discard your walking boots, there’s even a stone bench to help. Upon entering the cottage the inviting & spacious sitting room is full of charm and character - beamed ceiling, stone hearth with real fireplace, stone & parquet flooring covered with rugs & plenty of comfortable seating.
From the sitting room you enter the light and airy kitchen which extends out into the dining conservatory, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the valley and out into the cottage garden. There is also a small utility area with w.c available just off the kitchen.Up a couple of steps from the far end of the sitting room is a separate entrance room with additional door to the driveway. This room is complete with boot rack, hooks, large downstairs bathroom & an air sourced heating system, the perfect place for leaving your outdoor clothes to air out. Throughout the property walking guides, books and mountain prints adorn the bookshelves and walls, reflecting the owner’s enthusiasm for the great outdoors.
Following the stairs up you have the option of turning left or right, turn left and you are presented with a comfortable twin room along with a cosy double room which offers fantastic views of the valley beyond straight from the bed. Adjacent to the double room you will find one of the upstairs bathrooms, spacious enough for sharing between the two rooms. Wooden beams which cross the ceilings and walls work in harmony with the uneven floors upstairs to add to the cottages warm character.
Head back to the stairwell and turn left and you are presented with the spacious master bedroom and another bathroom. The master bedroom with large window and skylight offers a bright and private hideaway for the grown-ups, complemented by a feature bed and antique furniture. The bathroom adjacent, which is grand in size features a full sized central island bath, separate shower and views across the rear of the garden and fields beyond.
Outside you will find the spectacular cottage garden, a collection of paths, lawns and terraces which wrap around the property. Lovingly cared for by the owners, the garden offers several secluded seating areas which are perfect for helping you sit back & unwind whilst enjoying the surrounding woodland and fell side views. Please note that due to the nature of the steps into the top section of the garden we advise that care be taken during wet weather.
There are many great walks from the door including the famous Dunnerdale horseshoe. In the nearby Duddon Valley there are many rock climbs and bridleways for bike rides linking both valleys. Further details can be found within the property. The beauty of this cottage is that it really does enjoy the best of both worlds. A traditional country cottage in an idyllic location, combined with the proximity of all local amenities. The Blacksmiths Arms a quintessential Lakeland pub is a mere 200 yards from the front door and the market town of Broughton in Furness a 5 minute drive away. Lakeland villages of Coniston and beyond can be reached within 15 minutes by car along with the vast & peaceful beaches, such as Silecroft found on the western coast.
To conclude this idyllic hideaway is a must for romantics, friends, families, outdoor enthusiasts and those wishing to escape it all even if just for a few days.

|We stayed in Mill Cottage and it was beautiful, we couldn't have asked for more. Surrounded by beautiful gardens the very spacious accommodation and a fabulous little pub 200 metres away serving gorgeous food, but you need to book as it's very popular. The owners live next door and are really knowledgeable about the area and good fun too. Thank you once again Coppermines for your help and very efficient service, we've loved it.|

|A beautiful cottage in a really great location. We had a very relaxing holiday and spent plenty of time in the garden as the weather was fantastic all week.
Many thanks to Linda and Neil who were so helpful and a mine of information. The staff at the Blacksmiths Arms were super and we had a couple of nice meals there.
All in all brilliant week touring the Furness area.

|Beautiful cottage and so lucky to have had glorious weather too. We really enjoyed sitting in the garden with all its lovely flowers and scents.
Linda and Neil the owners are very helpful and friendly. Great to have them at hand. Sorry to be going home; could so easily stay on for weeks. Beautiful location; lots of great walks to be had and many car trips to other places of interest in the Lakes.
Tilly (the dog) loved exploring in the undergrowth around the garden, coming back covered in burrs and leaves. It was great to have an enclosed garden for her to wonder freely without concerns. The cottage is homely and comfortable with everything you need; it’s spacious and well furnished, old and quirky but with all modern amenities. Loved it. Thank you for a great weekend.

|Had a lovely stay at Mill Cottage with our family and eldest sons girlfriend. Lovely comfy beds and bedrooms. Loved the open fire. Garden lovely to sit in enjoying the warm sunshine. Enjoyed walks around the surrounding lanes and fields with our dog Ruby (her first holiday with us). Owners Linda & Neil were very helpful and informative and even showed us how to make a fire!
We would recommend a drive through Hardknott and Wrynose Pass, trips to Windermere, Keswick, scenery wonderful.
Finally two wonderful evening meals at the Blacksmiths Arms, excellent, highly recommended (we saw Steve Coogan in there too).
Loved the Lakes!

The garden is to die for, we all enjoyed it but the two black labs loved all the little paths and places to hide.
We had a lovely trip down the Duddon Valley and over Hardknott Pass and a lovely meal at the Woolpack Inn/Hardknott Bar & Cafe (doggy heaven).
Garden and views are fab!
